The Game Day Collection
Football is America’s sport. There’s no doubt about that. Here in the South we take the sport seriously. Weddings are even planned around football schedules. No, seriously. If your event is on a Saturday when LSU plays Bama at home, no one is coming. Or if they do, they are huddled around the nearest TV.
This collection is filled with purple and gold for a few reasons. LSU is my alma mater. The majority of my sales are local. Local for me means Baton Rouge. So LSU purple and gold it is!
But there’s actually more to the story. It’s not just football, though I love the season and all that comes with it. I chose the setting for this photo shoot not just because the collection was all about purple and gold. It was more emotional for me.
This photo shoot takes place at Louisiana State University. Daniel and I spent four of the happiest years there. The first two years of our marriage were spent on campus roaming the halls of Coates, Allen, CEBA (or Patrick F. Taylor as you youngins might know it). Our time there was so carefree. The only thing we really had to worry about was passing a Geology lab…which I did. We met some of our best friends there. LSU was simply my happy place.
After I had Olivia, post-partum depression set in, and I had no idea what to do with myself. So I bundled her up and off we went. Evenings during those hot dog days of Summer 2010 were spent strolling Olivia through the Quad under oak trees. Slowly but surely I found myself again. Then after Daniel died my little girl and I retreated back to those old oak trees for what were some of the darkest days of my life. Bringing her there and telling her all about the memories of Daniel that each building held was so helpful. It felt like I could help her hold on to something of her daddy. Once again, my alma mater rescued me.
In a way, this collection isn’t just about clothes. It’s kind of my love song to my place of respite. The oak trees, the stadium, even Lockett with it’s basement that floods hold a special place in my heart.
I ended up loving this tunic style top more than I thought I would! Made a smidge longer so she can wear it with skinnies or leggings, it’s a perfectly comfy cute top!
This top happened to be Olivia’s favorite! It’s perfectly purple and gold so she can cheer on her tigers while the weather is still sweltering!
This top is the perfect transition piece if ever the seasons decide to change here in South Louisiana! It looks gorgeous with skinnies and leggings!
