Welcome! I’m Sarah.
Plum and Violet is the busy Moms’ answer to finding practical, stylish clothing and accessories for their little girls – without taking time away from creating memories with them.
Starting with a tragic loss (more on that below), I’ve been on a kind of crusade to bring more beauty into life, and seize every chance to create meaningful memories everyday.
Like you, I’m the mother of a precious little girl. Maybe you and I also have this in common:
- We’re very busy – always trying to fit more into each day.
- But, we believe life should be beautiful and stylish.
- We’re ambitious about being great Moms!
- We like nice things, but not extravagant prices.
- We cherish the little memories with our little ones.
- We love finding ways to make life easier and more efficient so we have more time for creating those memories.
Finding the Beauty In Your Life
I met my husband, Daniel, when I was sixteen. and we married at the age of 20. People thought we were young and crazy. But the crazy part was that we were happy, truly happy. We felt blessed to lay our heads down next to our best friend every night, to catch each other when we fell, and lift each other up to be our very best every day.
Life was so good.
A couple of years after graduating from school and getting jobs, we welcomed the most amazing, beautiful, crazy baby girl into our lives. I didn’t even know it was possible, but I loved him even more when I saw him with our little girl.
How did I get so lucky?
Not long after Olivia was born, I decided I wanted to own my own business. Daniel and I came up with lots of initial ideas and eventually settled on a children’s clothing store. Daniel was with me each step of the way, encouraging me, loving me.
But, on March 31, 2012, Daniel was taken to his heavenly home.
I was a widow at the age of 26. After 10 amazing years, I didn’t know how to be me without him. I felt like I couldn’t even manage my life let alone a business, so I shut everything down. I shut down. I gave up. How do I go on without my best friend? I lived in a dark world that just wasn’t right. I was drifting, and I had no idea where I was going.
Then, sometime later two small miracles occurred.
I opened the fridge door to stand and stare at it like I often had, and I caught site of a bottle of champagne peeking out from the back. It was the bottle Daniel bought for us to share when my store opened. At first, I angrily slammed the fridge shut. Life was almost too much to deal with without Daniel. No way I could think about anything business/dream related.
Then, oh but then, I discovered that Daniel had set up an email account for our baby girl and sent her emails nearly every day for her to read when she grew up. This was the game changer.
One email changed everything.
In one email to our little Liv he told her about how Mama had set up a tax ID number for a new business, and about how proud he was of Mama. He was proud of me.
Knowing now that Daniel was still in some way by my side, I took a big leap of faith.
I picked up my business where he and I had left off, but with a new mission – to bring beauty into our life every day, and help you to create cherished memories every day. Whatever the outcome of this new chapter of my life is, I know this is something I’m supposed to do.
So, with Liv holding my hand and Daniel watching over us, we start this new adventure always with him in our hearts.
